Lupa 0.3.0 (win-x64)
=====================

Lupa indexes your code repositories and notes folders and searches all of them
at once, in tens of milliseconds, with ripgrep-style substring and regex search.
It keeps the index current by reading the Windows USN Journal.

Lupa never uses the network: no telemetry, no update checks, nothing leaves
your computer.

Requirements: Windows 10 or 11, x64 (Intel/AMD). No administrator rights, no .NET.

INSTALL
-------
1. Extract this zip anywhere (for example your Downloads folder).
2. Open a terminal (PowerShell or Command Prompt) in that folder and run:

       .\lupa.exe install

This copies the files from this zip to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Lupa and
adds that folder to your PATH. Open a new terminal afterwards so `lupa`
   is found.

Upgrading works the same way: the version you had is kept in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Lupa\backups\<version>. To go back to it, run
lupa.exe install from that folder. Going back from 0.2 or later to a
0.1 version also needs a fresh index: delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\Lupa and
   add your folders again.

About the "Windows protected your PC" warning: Lupa isn't code-signed yet, so
Windows SmartScreen may warn the first time you run it. If you trust where
you got it, choose "More info" -> "Run anyway". To check the download, compare
its SHA-256 with the value published next to the zip:

       Get-FileHash .\lupa-0.3.0-win-x64.zip

QUICK START
-----------
lupa add C:\src C:\Users\me\notes index folders (respects .gitignore)
lupa search GetUserById search everything (regex by default)
lupa search -F "connection string" literal text
lupa search -l TODO -g "*.md" files only, Markdown only
lupa search -c TODO count matching lines per file
lupa find budget find files and folders by name (PDFs too)
lupa update pick up changes since the last add/update
lupa schedule keep updating in the background (every 15 min)
    lupa roots list indexed folders
lupa remove D:\old-project take a folder out of the index
lupa status index size and update method per drive
lupa --help all commands and options

Results print as path:line:column:text, so they're clickable in Windows
Terminal and VS Code. `--json` gives JSON Lines for scripts.

Run `lupa update` now and then (or before searching) to include recent
changes; search tells you when the index is more than an hour old. Or run
`lupa schedule` once to have it done in the background; `lupa log` shows
how those background updates went.

UNINSTALL
---------
lupa uninstall removes lupa, its backups, and its PATH entry
lupa uninstall --delete-index also deletes the index (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lupa)
